ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES Children should arrive at 8:30 for the morning classes and at 12:00 for the afternoon classes. Early arrival is discouraged. Teachers are preparing for class and cannot properly supervise the children who arrive too early. Likewise, children who are late miss an important part of the planned curriculum. Children must be accompanied into the building and to the classroom. Please make sure a staff member has acknowledged your child before leaving. No child should ever be left in the hallways unsupervised. If a child is to leave with an adult who has not been previously designated by the parents as someone authorized to pick up the child, then written notification regarding this is required in advance and should be given to the Director. No child will be released to anyone without written permission of a parent or guardian. The Staff shall refuse to release a child to any person, whether related or unrelated to the child, if they have not been authorized by the parent or guardian to receive the child. Persons not known to the staff shall be required to provide a driver's license (with photo) identification to establish their identity before the child is released to them. The time of each child's departure from school shall be noted on a daily departure log and initialed, signed or otherwise documented by the person to whom the child is released. Parents or emergency contacts will be called if the child has not been picked up within 10 minutes of dismissal. Children who are not picked up on time at dismissal will be made comfortable, occupied and secure with the teacher in charge or the director until the parent or other adult designated by the parent arrives. It is the custodial parent's obligation to inform the school of any change of status with regard to custody, orders of protection or persons authorized to pick up children. A call is appreciated when your child is absent. You may call and leave a message or wait until the school opens at 8:00 a.m.
